Bangkok - A lot of people came to the San Pa Khoi post office in Chiang Mai to use the post services, especially the telegram service.
Many people sent the telegram to wish their senior adults good birthdays and even sent messages to themselves before the service would be cancelled on May 1.
The telegram service has been launched for 125 years. There are currently 4-5 service users per month.
The service charge is one baht per word. The average charge is about 20 baht per letter.
More people are expected to use the telegram service on April 30, the last day of the service available.
The revenue from telegram service is only one million baht per year, according to ICT Ministry.
Due to technological advancements, people turn to rely more on mobile phones, emails, faxes, EMS and online postal money order service. As a result, the number of telegram service users drops more and more, according to CAT Telecom Plc.
