At least 16 dead in floods

Bangkok - At least sixteen people were dead due to severe floods across Thailand. More than half a million people were affected, according to public health ministry.

21 ouf of Thailand’s 76 provinces in the north, east and central region experienced floods caused by heavy rain.

Nearly 700,000 people were affected according to the disaster prevention department.

About 1,900 houses and several pieces of farmland were flooded and damaged while many roads were also damaged.

Last week, the Meteorological Department issued more than ten announcements warning Thai people of floods in the north, northeast and east.

Heavy rain was caused by low-pressure mass and southwest monsoon.

More than 123,000 people were given flood-related medical care in the last 10 days, according to public health ministry.

Two people were missing, and local media reported sixteen people were swept away in flood waters.

Today, the Meteorological Department issued its warning that the low-pressure mass passed the north and upper northeast whereas the southwest monsoon covered the Andaman Sea and the south.
