Bangkok - More than one million kits of medicines have been reserved to deal with the Mai Sak tropical storm which may come to Thailand, according to the public health ministry.
The pharmaceutical kits are to help the victims cope with diseases such as trench foot.
The Mai Sak tropical storm may enter the southern part of Thailand within 1-2 days.
Risk areas are Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumporn, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Krabi, Phattalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat.
Dr. Praj Boonyavongviroj, permanent secretary for public health, assigned medical units in those risk areas to survey and prepare to move pharmaceutical equipment to a safe place.
Mobile medical units will also be available to give help to the victims right away.
The Meteorological Department earlier warned people in the risk areas of flash floods and mountain run-off.
Small boats were also warned not to navigate because of high-pressure mass from China.
