Bangkok - Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat and his group arrived at Wat Tai International Airport in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, at 9:30 am and was welcomed by a Laotian minister.
After the official welcoming ceremony, the premier met Laotian Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh for bilateral talks.
It was expected issues like onshore and offshore boundary posts, Hmongs problem, and transport network development would be discussed by both parties.
It is a tradition for a Thai head of state to visit neighboring countries.
Somchai previously called off trips to Laos and Cambodia last month because of violent clashes between police the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) protesters on October 7.
He would later pay a visit to President Choumaly Sayasone, according to AFP.
It is possible that Lao government will raise the issue of energy, the construction of the third Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge, and railway route opening.
