Bangkok - Academics urged the government to carefully consider the setup of the Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA) to amend the charter, believing the CDA would not solve the political crisis.

Surichai Wankaew, director of Chulalongkorn University’s Social Research Institute, thought the government should not stubbornly establish the CDA to amend the constitution.

He said it was necessary for the government to listen to all groups as trust was an important thing in this kind of situation.

The government was urged to pay attention to the whole society’s benefits.

Independent academic Likhit Theeravekin agreed that the CDA setup was not a solution to the problem.

Likhit believed the CDA was the government’s time buying.

He said Thailand came to the changing point which the CDA setup to change the charter could go nowhere.

Senate Speaker was asked to carefully consider about the issue.
