Bangkok - Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin joined artists and private organizations to introduce the International Ride to Work 2008 activity.
This morning, Apirak together with more than 800 artists and private organizations in Silom and Sathorn area yesterday launched the activity to campaign for bicycle riding to work.
Such activity is held on October 15 of each year to reduce pollution and global warming.
Environmental conservation is also focused in this activity.
The activity is normally held during 7:00-10:00 am based on local time of each country.
The C40 Cities such as Australia’s Sydney, United Kingdom’s London, the United States’ New York and Thailand’s Bangkok joined to mark the event.
It is the first time the activity has taken place in Thailand. Cyclists gathered at the Lumpini Park and rode to Rama IV and South Sathorn Road.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration was urged to campaign for bicycle riding support by motorists more.
