Bangkok - Low-cost airline AirAsia planned to launch its daily flights between Bangkok and Hong Kong in October as part of its plan to expand the network.
The Hong Kong-Bangkok route will provide increased access to Thailand for the huge tourism market in Greater China, according to AFP.
The airline also planned to add a second daily flight on Kuala Lumpur-Hong Kong route because of strong demand.
"AirAsia has continued to buck industry trends with its rapid expansion plans," it said in a statement.
5,000 free seats were offered by the budget airline as part of the launch.
However, passengers would be charged for fees and fuel surcharge.
AirAsia has performed well despite global economic woes. The company, nevertheless, faced 95% decreasing net profit in June.
AirAsia benefited from the economic slowdown because travelers turned from full-service airlines to budget airlines.
