Bangkok - 400 delegates from the central region today attended a seminar to prepare people for the natural disasters.

Public Health Minister Chavarat Charnvirakul and Deputy Public Health Minister Vicharn Minchainant jointly inaugurated the seminar.

The seminar was to prepare rescuers to cope with the earthquake and landslide.

51 Provinces such as Kamphaengphet, Chiangrai, Chiangmai, Tak, Nakhon Sawan, Phetchabun, Lampang, Chaiyaphum and Udon Thani were at landslide risk.

Chavarat said that the medical units were fully ready to do their jobs if an earthquake, landslide or storm surge took place.

The public health ministry currently has nearly 6,000 rescue teams.

The national emergency medical institute was assigned to coordinate with the regional public health and relating units to efficiently cope with those natural disasters.
