Bangkok - The members of People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) marched to the foreign ministry this morning to call for the revocation of passports of the ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra and his wife Pojaman Shinawatra.

Many of the demonstrators wore yellow T-shirts symbolizing their loyalty to HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, waving plastic noisemakers as they marched.

"We demand the foreign minister and the foreign ministry immediately revoke every type of passport belonging to Thaksin and Pojaman, who are criminal fugitives," said protest leader Sondhi Limthongkul.

The protesters urged the foreign ministry to cancel the couple’s all travel documents.

Thaksin and his wife were previously allowed by the Supreme Court to travel abroad on the condition that they had to appear before the court on August 11.

But they failed to appear before the court and fled to the United Kingdom instead.

Thaksin's lawyer said the couple would seek political asylum in Britain, where Thaksin owns the Premier League club Manchester City.

The PAD demonstrators went to the British Embassy on Tuesday to urge the embassy to send the couple back to face trials in Thailand.

It was reported the British ambassador to Thailand refused to give any comments on the PAD’s demand and Thaksin’s political asylum seeking.
