Bangkok - The carbon label scheme was welcomed well by the government and private sector, according to Mrs. Panchaporn Vejyantvivat, researcher at the Thailand Environment Institute.
The project is to help cope with the global warming and show responsibility for the society.
There will be procedures to select products to join in this project.
Product’s life cycle, service and transportation at a certain period of time will be examined.
Panchaporn confirmed consumers and manufacturers would not bear more burdens as concerns were expressed.
Paper manufacturers and transport operators were keen to participate in the carbon label scheme the most.
She said it might take time to encourage small companies to join in the project.
The scheme focuses on reduction of carbon dioxide emissions while the green label scheme on environmentally-friendly products.
