Bangkok - Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej supported the use of cloth bags to reduce global warming and the construction of more dams to prevent floods.

PM Samak yesterday presided over the opening ceremony of the World Environment Day at the IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani.

The premier supported the idea of reducing the greenhouse emissions by changing people’s behaviors to attain the goal of low-carbon dioxide economy.

Thailand was ranked the 31st for releasing the greenhouse gases.

50% of its greenhouse gases were produced in the industrial sector while 23% in the agricultural sector, 17% in the forestry sector, and 10% from the general public respectively.

Samak backed the construction of more dams as they could help prevent floods, generate electricity, become tourist attractions and be used as sources of the water.

He also campaigned for the use of the cloth bags to help reduce the global warming.

It was reported that all the trains would be changed to become the electric trains in the future.
