Bangkok - Thailand plans to promote the alternative energy as an Asean agenda, according to energy ministry.
Thailand has hosted the 26th Asean Energy Minister Meeting here since August 4. The event will run until August 8.
Kurujit Nakhonthap, deputy permanent-secretary of energy ministry, said efficient energy use would be supported.
Nine gas pipelines are currently linked to one another, covering the distance of 2,300 kilometres.
This is to serve the natural gas buying and selling, Asean petroleum network link, greenhouse emissions reduction, energy saving and the safety of nuclear power use.
The five-year joint energy plan starting in 2009 will be drafted to ensure Asean energy security in the long run.
