Bangkok - Energy Minister Poonpirom Liptapanlop yesterday presided over the opening ceremony of the 18th International Exhibition of Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Technology.
The event is taking place at the BITEC and will run until June 7.
Poonpirom said the oil crisis Thailand is facing is inevitable as the country has to rely on oil import.
She emphasized the government tried all measures to reduce the impact of soaring oil prices on people.
More than 150 exhibitors have participated in this technological event.
The energy minister added that worldwide renewable energy entrepreneurs would have an opportunity to meet each other and create their network at the exhibition.
The energy ministry targets to produce at least 12% renewable and alternative energy by 2011.
It also expects to make Thailand become the green energy exporter, according to the 15-year alternative energy development plan.
