Bangkok - Some Thai Airways International (THAI) employees will submit a letter to the airline board’s chairman on July 9 to ask for clarity of the Airbus A330-300 planes lease.

THAI signed an operating lease agreement on eight Airbus planes, already paying the 70-million-dollar deposit.

The Assets Examination Committee (AEC) previously asked the airline to explain its lease.

The group will also send its letter to ask for clarity of the installation of 24 Rolls-Royce Trent 970 engines in six Airbus A380 planes.

The engine maintenance contract lasts for 15 years and is worth 500 million dollars.

Engine Alliance complained it offered the lower price but did not win the contract.

Last week, THAI board appointed a new president to replace Apinan Sumanaseni just to find it had to later reinstate Apinan.

Rumor has it that Nok Air will end its operation on July 4.

Chaiswasdi Kittipornpaibul, permanent-secretary for transport, only said Nok Air board would meet to get a clear conclusion about the issue.
