Bangkok - NIDA academic called on Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama to resign and the government to apologize Thai people to show their responsibility for the Preah Vihear temple case.

The Constitutional Court ruled the Thai-Cambodian joint statement on 18 June, 2008 was against the law.

It was reported the government should seek the parliament’s approval for such action.

Asst Prof Pakorn Preeyakorn, dean of NIDA GSPA Faculty, said the verdict affected people’s confidence in government.

The government was urged to explain the Preah Vihear temple and apologize to Thai people.

The foreign minister should also resign to show his responsibility for the issue.

Pakorn also said that the political situation would be worse if Noppadon refused to resign.

The opposition party MPs, Senators and people will surely gather signatures to impeach him.

The government should take this chance to reshuffle the cabinet to bring people’s confidence back.
