Bangkok - 67.1% of Thai people did not want the government to hold a referendum on charter change while 27% agreed to the referendum holding, according to NIDA poll.
People in the south strongly disagreed to the referendum holding (74.2%), followed by people in Bangkok and surrounding provinces (73.2%), and people in the central region (67.8%) respectively.
1,844 respondents were surveyed during June 9-12.
Respondents were 18-70 years old, from different educational backgrounds and walks of life.
60.2% said it was not the time to amend the constitution while 24.9% said it was time to.
24.4% supported the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) rally.
But northeasterners did not back the PAD’s rally the most, followed by people in Bangkok and surrounding provinces (77.1%), and northerners (70.2%) respectively.
3.9% wanted the prime minister to resign while 2.5% wanted the government to dissolve the parliament.
68.1% were confident there would be no coup soon.
