Bangkok - The Bangkok Mass Transportation Authority (BMTA) will provide about 400 buses to transport suburban passengers to other main destinations.
The directors of the eight bus operation zones yesterday met to seek measures to cope with the situation in case the private bus operators stopped providing their services.
Pinesuan Puapatanakul, director of the BMTA, confirmed this would not affect the regular services.
Mr. Wuthichart Kalayanamitr, president of the Transport Co Ltd, said the Transport Co Ltd is ready to provide 200 buses for the BMTA to help it deal with bus shortage on some routes.
The Central Administrative Court previously ruled that the bus fares should be maintained at the old rates.
Violating bus operators can face up to 2,000-baht fine.
