Bangkok - The Chiang Rai court cancelled the petition of Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung’s lawyer to stop Sondhi Limthongkul’s political movement.
Chalerm’s lawyer Mr. Arwut Preechawut sent the petition to revoke the court’s order to temporarily free Sondhi.
Sondhi was sued in the defamation case by the Forest Department’s official Kengkarj Srihasarn on March 7, 2008.
He got one-year imprisonment. But he was bailed out on the condition that he must not smear other people.
Sondhi, the outspoken journalist and owner of the Manager Daily newspaper, is now joining the People’s Alliance for Democracy protest against the government’s charter change.
Mr. Arwut claimed Sondhi violated the court’s order and protested against his bail.
It took Chiang Rai court more than an hour to give its verdict on the case.
Sondhi is entitled to give his opinions based on the constitution law, according to the court.
