Bangkok - Thailand is not at earthquake risk. But buildings can collapse if the earthquake is measured 6-7 Ritcher on scale, according to Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).
Dr. Pennueng Wanichchai, head of AIT, said Thailand would not face a severe earthquake like China.
Sichuan earthquake hit China on May 12, leaving 4.8 million people homeless
However, Thailand’s buildings are not ready to serve the earthquake.
The Public Works and City Planning Department has enforced the anti-earthquake design law which covers northern provinces, Kanchanaburi, Bangkok and surrounding provinces.
With good design, buildings can be resistant to the earthquake at a certain level, according to Dr Pennueng.
