Bangkok - A meeting with more than 3,000 high-rise building owners will be called to get ready for the earthquake.

Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin said the Department of Public Disaster Prevention and Relief, would call a meeting with the high-rise building owners to deal with possible quakes.

They will be updated about the new building control law and ministerial regulation which has been effective since December 2007.

Other speakers who have knowledge about quake prevention will also be invited to update those building owners.

Apirak was set to inspect the safety system of The Empire Tower and L.P.N. Tower in Sathorn and Bangrak District.

This is part of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s measures to get ready for the earthquake.

Thailand is on alert for the earthquake after China’s Sichuan earthquake on May 12.
