Bangkok - China’s earthquake has no impact on Thailand, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE). Concerns over how much Thailand’s buildings can deal with quake were expressed.

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Anongwan Thepsuthin revealed the ministry closely watched risk areas and would submit the results to today’s cabinet meeting.

There is no possibility the quake will take place in Thailand.

However, volunteers were sent to closely watch the situation in each province.

They will continuously send the information back to the ministry to make sure there will be no unexpected danger.

Ten provinces are already put on the watch list due to monsoon season.

Mr. Saksit Tridej, Permanent Secretary for Environment, said a meeting with relating units would be called on May 15 to warn of possible risks.

It is possible buildings will collapse after the magnitude 6-7 earthquakes.

Buildings in Thailand are not ready to serve the earthquake much. The new law to enforce the anti-earthquake buildings only covers northern provinces, Kanchanaburi, Bangkok and surrounding provinces.
