Bangkok - Thailand is likely to feel the vibration if the earthquake takes place in its neighboring countries like Laos and Myanmar.
The earthquakes in Japan and China were said to affect 19 active faults in Thailand.
China’s Sichuan earthquake took place on May 12, leaving about 34,000 people dead and 30,000 missing.
Risk areas include Kanchanaburi, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Prachinburi, Nan, Payao, Ranong, Phuket, Krabi, Phang Nga and Satun.
There is a fault below Bangkok which links to Dan Jedi Sam Ong in Kanchanaburi. As a result, Bangkok is likely to feel the vibration as well.
Mr. Supakrit Tansriratanawongse, director general of the Meteorological Department, said the department is able to issue its warnings 14 weeks in advance.
