Bangkok - Airports of Thailand (AOT) suggested Don Muang Airport should additionally serve the low-cost airlines and warehouses.

After a meeting between Transport Minister Mr. Santi Prompat and AOT chief executive Air Vice-Marshal Chana Yoostaporn, it was recommended Don Muang Airport should be used to serve the low-cost airlines and warehouses.

The issue of using Don Muang Airport to serve the low-cost airlines was urgent as it could help reduce the airport’s annual loss of one billion baht and would also reduce Suvarnabhumi Airport’s congestion.

The Suvarnabhumi Airport is expected to face the air traffic crisis since the end of this year onwards.

Don Muang Airport currently serves ten charter flights per day. 120 more flights per day can be added to the airport.

Thai Air Asia, Oriental Thai and Nok Air initially agreed to move back to Don Muang Airport.
