BANGKOK - A long-tail boat carrying 20 passengers from Vietnam sank in the Mekong River, leaving three people dead and four missing, Thai police said Sunday.
The accident happened late Saturday in Nakhon Phanom province, 740 kilometres (460 miles) northeast of Bangkok, a police officer said. The province borders Laos.
Among 13 survivors, five swam to the shore and eight others were rescued by Thai authorities, according to AFPL.
The police officer declined to give further details.
