BANGKOK - At least nine people were killed and 26 injured when a bus carrying mourners to a funeral tumbled down a mountain in Kanchanaburi province.
The bus was climbing a steep road in Kanchanaburi, about 130 kilometers (80 miles) west of Bangkok, when it fell, Major General Rawat Klingasorn, police commander of Kanchanaburi province, told AFP.
The passengers were on their way to the funeral of a respected Buddhist monk, Rawat said, adding that the bus driver fled the scene after the accident and was currently being sought.
