BANGKOK - Thai police were Sunday considering whether to file charges against a popular Bangkok amusement park after 28 children were injured when a water slide broke and sent them plummeting to the ground.

The accident happened at Siam Park on Saturday, when one of the final sections of a corkscrew water slide collapsed, leaving a two-metre (6.5-foot) drop to the hard ground below, according to AFP.

Lieutenant Colonel Vittaya Reungongart said 28 children aged between 10 and 13 were rushed to hospital, with four admitted overnight with head injuries and broken bones.

He told AFP that an initial investigation found that the water slide was old, while some children had been shaking it.

"Police need to do further investigations before filing charges," he said.

24 children now go back home while another four are still in the hospital.

Siam Park’s owner Mr. Chaiwat Luangamornlert feels very sad about the accident, planning to sell his amusement park business at the price of about five billion baht.
