Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – The Government Lottery Office (GLO) planned to hold a public hearing on online lottery next week in a bid to play down criticisms.
The public hearing is set to take place on July 10.
The press, researchers as well as lottery dealers will be invited to participate in the hearing.
It is expected that a conclusion will be drawn by July 15, so that a decision can be further made by the government.
The government confirmed that it would go ahead with the online lottery to solve the overpriced lottery problem.
The GLO will discuss the legal issue of printing lottery with the Council of State. The 1974 GLO Act indicated that the GLO had to print the lottery at its own printing house.
Academics as well as child and youth organizations earlier expressed concerns that the number of children and youths buying lottery would rise more than onefold.
