Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – New politics has become more concrete after the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) supporters unanimously approved the establishment of a political party by the PAD.
Many PAD supporters yesterday gathered at Thammasat Rangsit Campus to cast their votes on the setup of PAD’s political party.
The gathering was also to mark PAD’s 193 days of street protests against fugitive and convicted premier Thaksin Shinawatra as well as corrupt governments.
It was expected that the new politics would replace the old politics in next one year.
The so-called new dimension of politics is seen as a way for the PAD to bring the fighting scene to parliament.
Maj Gen Chamlong Srimuang, one of the PAD leaders, said it would take about 7-10 days to draft guidelines for the setup of PAD’s party.
Chamlong insisted that it was necessary for PAD’s political party to take place since politicians still played the old game.
Pipob Thongchai, another PAD leader, agreed that power and corruption were not the ultimate goals of new politics.
