Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) planned to speed up the construction of the National Stadium-Prannok line to reduce traffic problem.
Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Boripat revealed the project valued up to 40,000 million baht.
Deputy Governor Mr. Theerachon Manomaipibul was assigned to make this construction project take shape soon.
Traffic on such line is so heavy, and the construction has to run through the Rattanakosin Island.
Taksin-Wongwianyai line will be available on May 15 whereas the Onnuj-Baring and Wongwianyai-Bangwa lines will be completed in 2011.
BMA targets to reduce the use of private cars and promote the use of public transport more.
Road transport was about 17 million times per day in 2008 and the number would rise to 21 million times per day in next 2-3 years.
