Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Bangkok was one of the provinces which were at water pollution risk apart from Samut Prakan, Samut Sakon, Chonburi and Rayong.

92.68 percent of Thailand’s total area tended to face the water pollution, according to the Greenpeace Southeast Asia.

Factors accelerating water pollution crisis covered increasing number of water pollution-related industries, the use of chemical substances in the agricultural and industrial sectors as well as rising population density.

The eastern region had the highest number of risk areas (35.64%), followed by the central region (15.89%).

97.78 percent of Rayong province were areas which tended to face water pollution.

99 percent of villages which were close to water sources were at water pollution risk.

Water pollution is the contamination of lakes, rivers, oceans and groundwater caused by human activities.

It is a major problem in the global context and accounts for the deaths of more than 14,000 people per day.
