Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – The public health ministry planned to follow up with the impact of economic problem on Thai people for two years.
A working unit was set up to examine the impact of economic problem on Thais’ health.
The number of unemployed workers rose over 100,000 in February.
Significant indicators to evaluate the impact level include stress, suicide, drinking rate, infant’s weight of less than 2.5 kilograms as well as increasing use of government hospital’s services.
Public health ministry will also coordinate with education ministry, culture ministry and ministry of social development and human security to prevent premature pregnancies.
The group will try to improve pregnant women’s health as well.
Teenage mothers who were less than 20 years old were found in several areas, and the figures reached 200 in some provinces.
To keep up with impact of economic problem on Thais, about eight million baht of budget is needed, so that the National Statistical Office can go ahead with the nationwide health survey.
