Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Mrs. Jamsri Sukchotirat, president of the THAI Labor Union, this morning went to the Government House to explain the impact of the single airport policy to the economic minister meeting.
More than 30 staff members of Thai Airways International came to show their support to Jamsri.
It was yesterday reported that a group led by Mr. Pakphum Panrat acted against Jamsri. Pakphum said Jamsri’s movement was not in line with the union’s resolution.
However, Jamsri today told Tha Phra Arthit Council program or Sapha Tha Phra Arthit in Thai that Pakphum’s group related to more than 40 executives who are facing disciplinary probes.
Jamsri also criticized THAI management for mentioning only cost cutting. She said the management distorted information by not talking about increasing revenue of Don Muang operation.
Jamsri confirmed the union would oppose relocating Thai Airways to the Suvarnabhumi Airport while Nok Air and One-Two-Go Airlines are still at Don Muang Airport.
She said Suvarnabhumi was too crowded and not ready to be the single airport.
Thai Airways currently provides 23 domestic flights per day at Don Muang Airport, according to the union’s statistics.
Its revenue from direct ticket selling is averagely 40 million baht per month.
More than 40 taxi drivers at Don Muang Airport also sent their letter to the government to oppose Thai Airways relocation to Suvarnabhumi.
