Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) - Nine inbound flights had to change their landing places because of heavy fogs at the Suvarnabhumi Airpot this morning.

Serirat Prasutanont, acting president of the Airports of Thailand (AOT), revealed that today was a foggy day, especially at the Suvarnabhumi Airport. Visibility was only 800 metres.

Six flights had to land at Don Muang Airport while two more flights at Phuket Airport and one flight at Chiang Mai Airport respectively.

These flights will be later informed to land at the Suvarnabhumi Airport when the weather condition does not affect visibility.

AOT plans to cut 20 percent of the airport and landing fees at all airports. This will be effective between February 1 and September 30.

Fee cuts are to attract more airlines to fly to Suvarnabhumi.

AOT targets to promote Suvarnabhumi as one of the world’s top ten airports by 2010 even though the airport’s rating was reduced in the last third quarter.
