Bangkok - The atmosphere at provincial airports became busy again after the Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang Airport were closed.
There were no stranded passengers at the Chiang Mai Airport since most tourists and passengers knew about the airports closure in Bangkok.
International flights from China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia still landed at the airport as usual.
Foreign tourists were still able to take both Thai and international flights to Phuket. Charter flights were also available.
However, all flights from the Hat Yai Airport to Bangkok were suspended.
Chaisak Ungsuwan, permanent secretary for transport, revealed the air transport department would allow all airlines to land at the U-Tapao Airport since November 27 onwards.
Commercial flights could not make their landings since the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) seized the Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi Airport.
There would be a pick-up service for 247 Muslims who wanted to join the Haj to the U-Tapao Airport, so that they coul fly to Saudi Arabia.
