Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva argued back former premier Thaksin Shinawatra’s comment, confirming his government would not take Thailand to bankruptcy.

Abhisit said the government has been careful and responsible for its administration so far, and many problems have been solved.

The premier insisted the economic crisis has occurred before the Democrat government took office.

Abhisit reasoned that it was Thaksin who caused people to be in debt trouble. This is why the Democrat government had to borrow loans to help people.

He also mentioned that there was an effort to blame the cause of loan borrowing on Democrat Party.

Abhisit is set to visit the United Kingdom during March 12-14.

Foreign Minister Kasit Pirom believed the British government would take action Giles Ungpakorn who has been on the run due to a lese majeste case.

He is also confident that other countries will give their cooperation to help Thailand bring Giles and Thaksin back to go through the judicial process.

The extradition treaty with Hong Kong is reportedly under negotiation.
