Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) - Public health ministry will join Rajabhat Suan Dusit University to campaign for safe love on Valentine’s Day.
1,000 respondents aged 15-24 years were surveyed. Youths mostly wanted to buy gifts for their love or have dinner together.
It was shocking that 5 percent of youths wanted to have sex on Valentine’s Day.
37 percent of Thai youths agreed to use condoms with occasional partners whereas 31 percent got infected by sex having.
Not less than 5 percent relied on medicines for birth control without consulting a doctor.
34 percent said they saw pornography at the age of ten while 3 percent used to see porno photos when they were less than ten years old.
Public Health Minister Vittaya Kaewparadai said that many teenagers expressed their love wrongly on the Valentine’s Day. They had unprotected sex which led to pregnancy and infection.
Valentine’s Day is celebrated by people worldwide on February 14. In Asia, Singaporeans, Chinese and South Koreans spent the most money on Valentine’s gifts.
Modern Valentine’s symbols include the heart-shaped stuff, doves and the figure of the winged cupid, Roman god of erotic love and beauty.
