Bangkok (ASTV Manger Online) - The Office of SMEs Promotion (OSMEP) is holding the first Thai restaurant contest to boost restaurant’s service.
The contest is held under the title of “You are SME entrepreneurs”.
Eight kinds of Thai food are available in this contest, and all restaurants nationwide have to cook their favorite dishes to win prizes.
Dishes include spicy shrimp soup, spicy chicken soup with galangal, stir-fried noodles, green curry, papaya salad, tamarind-flavored soup, spicy shrimp paste dip and spicy glass noodles salad with seafood.
Contestants have to send their restaurant photos as part of the application. 40 restaurants nationwide will be selected by the committee.
Thai restaurants with licences can apply until February 20. Application form is available at www.sme.go.th.
The first winner will get a 50,000-baht cash prize with a shield. The first runner-up will get a 30,000-baht prize with a shield while the second runner-up a 20,000-baht prize. A 5,000-baht condolence prize is also offered.
Mr. Pak Thongsom, acting director of the OSMEP, said Thai restaurant growth would slow down this year, but most restaurants would still survive the economic slump.
