Aiming to get two billion budget to boost confidence in Thai food

Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Thailand’s National Food Institute planned to spend two billion baht of budget to boost confidence in Thai food.

The first phase of the Thai Kitchen to the World scheme has been launched during 2004-2008.

The institute is going to ask for about two-billion-baht budget to build confidence among worldwide consumers in the second phase entitled “Thailand Food Forward”. This will be effective within one year.

The cooking quality of 250 restaurants will be enhanced to meet the international safety standard.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, director of the National Food Institute, said the image of Thai restaurant would be maintained.

The institute targets to increase the number of Thai restaurants overseas to 20,000. It will also emphasize giving knowledge about Thai food cooking and consumption.

The Eat Safe scheme is to emphasize the safety and quality of Thai food.

The virtual market development scheme has also been promoted through www.foodfromthailand.com.
