Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) - It is highly possible that Friends of Newin group will move to Phumjai Thai Party, and the official introduction will happen on January 14.
A source at Friends of Newin group revealed that Newin Chidchob agreed with Somsak Thepsuthin, leader of the Phumjai Thai Party, to let Interior Minister Chavarat Charnvirakul become the party’s leader.
Chavarat is the father of Anuthin Charnvirakul who has a close relationship with Newin Chidchob.
Commerce Minister Pornthiva Nakhasai is set to be the party’s secretary-general.
Pornthiva’s husband Anucha Nakhasai, former MP from Matchima Thipataya, is Somsak Thepsuthin’s close aid.
23 MPs from Friends of Newin group will move to the new party, and this will be officially announced on January 14.
All MPs from Friends of Newin group will meet to jointly sign documents and take photo at the group’s office at Siripinyo Building.
The total number of Phumjai Thai MPs excluding those voted for Pol Gen Pracha Promnok will rise to 31.
Both Newin and Somsak are deprived of political rights for five years after the dissolution of the Thai Rak Thai Party.
