Bangkok (Manager Online) - The Water Transport and Merchant Marine Department (WTMMD) has reduced boat fares to help passengers cope with the economic crisis.
The fare cuts have been effective since January 5.
Decreasing boat fares are in line with declining oil prices. It was earlier agreed that fare adjustments would be considered when the oil price is lower than 22 baht a litre.
One-baht price fall is applied to the Chao Phraya Express Boat’s orange and yellow-flagged boats. As a result, the orange-flagged boat fare dropped to 13 baht whereas yellow-flagged boat fares to 18-27 baht.
The regular boat fares are still 9-13 baht. Saen Saeb and ferry fares have been reduced since November 3, 2008.
