Bangkok (Manager Online) - The Ft cost will possibly hike another 0.20 baht per unit in the first half of next year.
Sombat Santijari, Egat Governor, admitted that the Ft cost tended to rise more in January 2009 and the Regulator would try to reduce the impact of increasing Ft cost.
Egat will have to first bear the cost burden of twenty billion baht.
The company plans to issue its bonds worth twenty billion baht in January to deal with such burden.
Normally, the Ft cost will be in line with oil prices. However, it is distorted by the domestic market forces and does not reflect the real costs.
It was expected that the crude oil price would remain at $40-50 per barrel next year and the natural gas price would still be high in the first half.
Egat usually buys natural gas for its power generation from PTT Plc.
