Bangkok (Manager Online) - The moon will be bigger tonight since it is the closest to the earth, according to the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST).

Nipon Saiphet, IPST astronomy expert, revealed the full moon day fell on December 12 when the sun and moon appeared on the same level.

The moon was said to stay close to the earth the most in one-year round.

The moon will be bigger than usual and can be seen at around midnight. People near the sea were invited to appreciate the full moon’s beauty.

The moon plays a role in the occurrence of the solar and lunar eclipse. It also influences the rise and fall of the sea water.

Observing the moon leads to clear understanding of its changing shape. The moon’s position will also lead to better understanding of waxing and waning moon.

The moon is the earth’s only natural satellite and the fifth largest natural satellite in the solar system.
