Bangkok - Astronomers were invited by the science ministry to observe the Leonids phenomenon tonight.
Mr. Boonraksa Sunthorntham, director of the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand, said there would be an interesting astronomical phenomenon this winter.
Leonids phenomenon will take place at midnight of November 17 and continue until tomorrow morning.
The showering rate will be twenty leonidrs per hour which is lower than that of last year.
Last year, the showering rate was 100 leonids per hour.
The leonids phenomenon can be seen with the naked eyes. However, the moon will be so bright during that time. The perception is thus affected by the moon’s brightness.
There will also be another interesting phenomenon on December 1. The moon, Venus and Jupiter will appear near one another and form a group of very bright planets.
The group can be seen in the southwest direction after the sunset.
