Bangkok - Thailand’s textile industry has still grown in overseas markets, especially in Asean region, according to Commerce Minister Chaiya Sasomsab.
Chaiya presided over the Export Garment Fair 2008 at the Export Promotion Department’s exhibition center on Ratchadapisek Road.
The garment fair will run until November 9.
China would supply its textiles and garments to the world markets, but Chaiya expressed no concern about that.
Commercial envoys were assigned to closely keep up with trade information in each country.
It was confirmed Thai workers in the textíle industry would face a little unemployment problem.
China was believed to mainly supply textiles and garments to the domestic market.
Thailand’s textile and garment growth has still remained at 7-8% this year. Exports valued more than 7-7.8 billion US dollars.
