Bangkok - The People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) demonstrators this morning marched to rally at the British Embassy to call the embassy to send former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra back to Thailand.
Wearing yellow T-shirts which symbolize Monday, HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s birthday, about ten thousands of protesters marched to British Embassy.
Hand clappers and banners with English messages to ask for Thaksin’s return added color to the rally.
"Why doesn't England send Thaksin back to Thailand to be put in jail?" PAD spokeswoman Sarocha Pornudomsak shouted to the crowd.
"We are here to tell (British Prime Minister) Gordon Brown that England should not keep a bad guy in the country."
British Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Quinton Mark Quayle came to receive the complaint letter from the PAD himself.
Traffic on Wireless Road was so congested that traffic police had to temporarily closed the road.
Thaksin, who was sentenced to two years in jail when the Supreme Court found him guilty in the Ratchadapisek land case, accused the elite group of influencing the courts to rule against him.
