BANGKOK - The Asset Examination Committee (AEC) has completed investigations into twelve cases agains the ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
The AEC which was set up in 2006 is set to examine the complaints and prepare cases for prosecution.
So far, only three cases are considered by the court and no convictions have been made yet.
AEC member Kaewsan Atibodhi told Thai television on Monday that nine more investigations were now complete and ready for the courts, and that only one case remains open.
"Almost every case has begun the judicial process -- they are either in court or being considered by prosecutors," Kaewsan said.
The remaining case, which centres on alleged corruption in the purchase of equipment for a government food lab, will be referred to the National Counter Corruption Commission.
About 25,000 protesters marched on the prime minister's offices Friday, and parliament is set to hold a vote of no confidence on Thursday, according to AFP
