Bangkok - Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat received Malaysian Foreign Minister Rais Yatim during their meeting at the airport.
Rais was here to urge Thailand to end the border conflict with Cambodia.
He would later fly to Cambodia this month, planning to ask both parties to resolve the conflict through peaceful negotiation.
Prime Minister Somchai is expected to meet Cambodian PM Hun Sen during the ASEM 2008 Conference.
This will be their first face-to-face meeting since the gunbattle took place on October 15.
Rais said his visits are partly in response to a request by Asean Secretary-general Surin Pitsuwan for member nations to make "friendly overtures so that the skirmish is undertoned."
