Bangkok - The Airports of Thailand (AoT) targeted to push the Suvarnabhumi Airport to be one of the world’s best airports in 2009. The number of passengers flying through the airport rose over 80 million people.
The second anniversary of the airport took place on September 29.
The number of passengers flying through the airport has reached more than 80 million for the past two years.
The passenger figures were 41.9 million in the first year while the figures were 38.5 million in the second year.
The air cargo figures rose over 2.4 million tons – 1.2 million tons in the first year and 1.1 million tons this year.
There are totally 111 airlines using the Suvarnabhumi Airport’s service. 97 carriers are passenger airlines while 14 carriers are air cargo airlines.
In the third year, AoT has a plan to speed up many things such as luggage trolleys and safety measures.
755 more closed-circuit cameras will be installed inside and outside the terminal buildings.
There are currently 1,074 closed-circuit cameras installed.
