Bangkok - The Meteorological Department warned Thai people of heavy rain in many areas caused by the Cyclone Kummuri .
The cyclone was about 330 kilometers of the northeast of Hanoi this morning.
The maximum wind speed was about 75 kilometers per hour.
Heavy rain can be expected in the north and northeast of the upper part of Thailand.
Risk areas are Chiang Rai, Payao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Phetchabun, Nongkhai, Sakon Nakhon, Udon Thani and Nakhon Panom province.
People in those areas were warned of flash floods and mountain run-off.
Higher than two meters of waves can be expected in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.
Small fishing boats should not navigate in the Andaman Sea until August 9.
Last night, there was heavy rain in Pua and Tha Wangpha District, Nan province.
