Bangkok - The number of passengers will be limited to less than 120 passengers per bus during the rush hours while the number can be less than 80 passengers per bus during regular hours.

Free buses for Thai people will be available since August 1 onwards.

This is part of the government’s six measures to help people survive the crisis.

‘Free bus for people’ sticker will be attached to a bus to let Thai people know they can use the serve free of charge.

Songsak Thongsri, Deputy Transport Minister, said the measure could help people save up to 400-500 baht a month.

The government will offset the income loss by offering the bus ticket income sharing and allowances.

It was reported 8,500 baht per bus would be given.

It will totally cost the government more than 1.2 billion baht for the whole period of six months.

A bus ticket collector said his income would rise from over 300 to over 400 baht per day though there was no clarity about the income compensation.

Bus no 95 which runs on Bangkhaen-Ramkhamhaeng 1 route will be the first bus to be launched in this project.
